Enjoy the first weekend of Spring 2021?
In honor of Women’s History Month, I'm first focusing on female-specific organizations seeking donations of clothing and accessories and providing amazing resources to women. Think career development and beyond!
Don’t worry fellas, there’s some information for you here as well! Expect more spring cleaning posts to come focusing on books and household items.
Donate Professional Outfits for Interviews:
Dress for Success (NY + international)
Bottomless Closet (NYC)
CareerGear (NYC): Men’s professional clothing (think suits and ties) plus career development resources
Want to learn more or find an organization in another state?
Check out Alliance of Career Development Nonprofits - this website has resources for working women and men across the country.
Donate Purses
Purses Full of Hope and Hopefull Handbags provide style and comfort to women and teens living in shelters. Fills purses with toiletries, hairbrushes, wallets, jewerly, manicure sets, and more…(see FAQ!).
Want to hold a purse drive with Purses Full of Hope?
Click here to hold a purse drive in the Philadelphia area, South Jersey or Southeastern PA. For national drives, talk to the PFOH team here.
Change Purse resells donations and uses the money to help victims and survivors of sex trafficking. Be sure to donate gently used and still stylish (!) handbags for maximum impact.
Donate Non-Work Clothes
Big Brother Big Sister (national): stocks their resale stores with gently used items at low prices — 100% of the sales benefit the charity!
Vietnam Veterans of America (national): gathers and resells clothing at low prices to help American veterans and their families.
Bye Bye Winter!
Check out One Warm Coat (national) to donate winter jackets. Spring has sprung in NY but we all know it takes a while to really warm up!
In case you need a giggle this Manic Monday…
I’m still jealous of this…where’s my clothing sorting app to maximize my outfits (and donating power) from my closet?!?
